I’m so looking forward to this…

Hi friends,

How are you doing? First of all I wanted to say thank you for the kind comments on my recent letter where I spoke about having nothing to say and enjoying a season of doing and being, rather than reflecting and sharing. 

As expected, after that I did feel a slight urge to start sharing again, not so much on social media, but ideas for letters here on Substack started slowly dripping through. As mentioned in my most recent letter, I feel I’ve given myself a permission slip to do what I want in this space, and that’s helped me feel less precious about what I do and don’t share. 

The main feeling I’ve had that I’ve wanted to muse on has been excitement. The first quarter of the year is over and as I look ahead to the rest of 2023 and beyond I’m feeling so excited about, well, lots of things. So I thought I’d share the messy scraps of my excitement here.

I’m excited for…

Warmer days

Specifically sitting in my local park, feeling the sun on my skin and listening to music. The sunnier days we’ve started experiencing this spring is reminding me how much I love summer in this town. Iced mochas, strolls into town, seeing the flowers in bloom. I can’t wait. 

An exciting work project

I can’t reveal all just yet as it’s in the very early stages (don’t you just hate it when people do that?) but I can say I’m fizzing with excitement. I’m doing a presentation for the directors of Happiful next week, sharing my proposal for the project, and I really can’t wait to get their thoughts and really get the ball rolling with it. I’ll share more when I can, promise. 

A weekend away with the girls

It’s been far too long since my girlfriends and I have been away together, and I cannot wait. We’re heading to a cabin in Hampshire to get away from everything and just… hang. There’ll be walks in the countryside, wine, and deep chats about anything and everything. I’ve bought myself some wellies for the occasion and they are bringing me joy already. 

The Barbie movie

It’s going to go so much deeper than we think. I’m already inundated by TikTok videos with theories of how this film is going to handle topics like patriarchy and I am here for it. 

Owning a home

OK, I’m jumping a bit further into the future now, but I’m really starting to get excited about this. For the longest time it felt like something that wasn’t going to happen, but now I’m back to full-time employment, I’m seeing my humble savings pot slowly grow. It will still take time, but it feels possible now, which is pretty amazing.
